As much as I love to be adventurous and daring, I’m also very intentional about taking time for myself to recharge and reset when I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed or worn out. It’s so important to achieve balance in your mind, body, and soul.
While a nature hike or a quick kayak trip are great ways I find to relax myself, I couldn’t be the Outdoorsy “Diva” if I didn’t also enjoy a good spa day. A massage or a body scrub are my favorite treatments to put me in a zen state of mind. So when I was offered an opportunity to visit The Grand Beauty Spa in South Tampa to experience one of their treatments complimentary, I jumped at the chance.
RELAX
Last week I elected to have the 80 minute Grand Massage. The Grand Massage is a therapeutic synergy of Swedish, Thai, and Shiatsu massage techniques all designed to provide the ultimate relaxation experience and reduce tension. Prior to this my longest massage experience was only 60 minutes so I was up for this extended experience.
After changing in the locker room into my comfy complimentary robe, I headed up the secret lift upstairs to the treatment area relaxation room. They also provided flip flops but per usual at most spas, the shoes were way too small for me. I didn’t see anyone around to ask about a larger size but since I wore flats it wasn’t a big deal. On my next visit I’ll definitely inquire so I can let my fellow big foot sistas know.
I enjoyed a lovely glass of wine and the calming ambiance before being escorted back for my treatment. They also had fruit infused water if you preferred that to wine or champagne.
It was 80 minutes of pure bliss. My massuese, Kerry, found muscles that were tight that I didn’t even know I used. I think even my fingers were tight. All I know is that when she finished I had lost all concept of time and space. She was gracious enough not to tell me if I had started to snore, though I’d be willing to bet money that I did. Don’t judge me…
RELEASE
My body was here but my consciousness checked out for a while. As a busy sports mom, career woman, and small business owner my mind is in constant flux at all times with ideas or problems that need to be solved. It was a truly magnificent feeling to abandon all thought for a while and truly release.
After the massage don’t rush to get dressed. Sit for a while in the treatment relaxation area, or the sauna or sit in the Zen Garden just outside the locker room and enjoy the tranquility of this heavenly little courtyard.
In addition to the Grand Massage, Grand Beauty Spa offers other services such as Hot Stone Massage Grand Spa Wrap, Body Scrubs, Grand Thai Table Massage, Med Spa services, and a full service beauty salon.
