As an outdoorsy “diva”, it’s not always easy to show my diva side when I’m exploring a waterfall trail or even in my travels. I usually opt for comfort and many times that sacrifices style. I’ll go back and look at my pics and think, geeze why did I wear that?
I’ve been looking for a brand that will compliment my desire for comfort on my adventures, while still giving me that chic effortless look. I was recently introduced to the prAna brand and I got an opportunity to try out some of their clothes and provide my feedback.
I ordered the petra top and bindu pants.
The petra top is an organic cotton and recycled poly blend. It feels similar to a jersey knit fabric.
What I loved:
- Love how soft the material is!
- I wore this while exploring the Florida panhandle in 90 degree temps and it was extremely comfortable and breathable material.
- The pattern detail on the tank gives it the simple but chic look I love.
I normally wear a size 16 so I ordered an XL. It fits a little bit larger than what I would prefer. With this cut, I could have probably ordered a large and had a fit that’s a bit more tapered and fitted.
The bindu pant is recycled poly and spandex.
What I loved:
- I love the feel of the material. It’s super soft.
- I like the tie up detail at the bottom of the pants.
- They are sturdy and not something that will catch or snag if you brush against a bush or a tree branch.
- They also repel water and dry very fast which is great for outdoorsy activities.
It has a high elastic waistband and for someone with a little bit of a squishy middle it wasn’t ideal. If you are not a fan of muffin top you have to be mindful of what type of shirt you wear with these pants.
A loose-fitting shirt was best. I toyed around with tucking in the shirt and I didn’t like that look so loose-fitting is my preference.
The length and fit on my hips and tushy was perfect so no complaints there. The spandex element to the pants makes them ideal for activities that are mildly strenuous because they move with you.
Another thing to love about the prAna brand is their mission to provide sustainable clothing that is accessible to everyone. They use organic cotton, hemp, or recycled materials in all of their products.
They seek materials from sustainable sources, treat their people fairly, and the processes they use improve the industry. I was really impressed with their commitment to do some good for the planet while keeping us fashionable.
Check out this video to learn more about the sustainability movement and why organic cotton matters.
Overall I’m really pleased with both of my items. They will be great for my new outdoorsy adventures and travel explorations.
There are several other prAna pieces I would like to add to my collection as well, included a few hemp pieces that were out of stock when I did this review. Darnit! But hopefully I’ll get a chance to order my first piece of hemp clothing soon.
Don’t just take my word for it. See what other people are saying with the #myprAna hashtag on social media and then explore the prAna website to pick out some items to try it for yourself!
Whether it’s yoga, fitness, or getting outside there’s something from prAna clothing for both men and women to fit your active lifestyle and make a positive impact on our planet.
