May 21st is National Kids to Parks Day! For the 6th year, the National Park Trust is getting families and kids to enjoy our parks all across the country. It is estimated that more than 600,000 people will visit a park on this very special day. My family and I will definitely be one of them! I hope that you will too!
It can be any park that you choose, from a local park, state park, or a national park. If you don’t have little ones of your own, you can grab a niece, nephew, cousin, grandchild, godchild, neighbor’s child (with parents’ permission of course) and expose them to some outdoor fun.
It was my goal to visit more state parks that I haven’t been to before this year, so my son and I will be setting out to explore one of the Florida State Parks that is completely new to us. Decisions…decisions….. You can follow along with us on our adventures throughout National Kids to Parks Day via Snapchat (@OutdoorsyDiva), Instagram (@OutdoorsyDiva), and Twitter (@Outdoorsy_Diva).
I’m excited to announce that as a Kids to Parks Day Ambassador, I have the privilege of bringing along a new friend. We will have Buddy Bison, the National Park Trust mascot, along with us for the ride. He is going to have a very busy day! You can keep up with all of his outdoor adventures by following the #BuddyBison hashtag throughout the weekend.
I hope you will join the thousands of others across the country by visiting a park on May 21 with a child. Visit the National Park Trust website to pledge your visit and be entered to win an awesome grand prize. It’s also a great resource for activity ideas as well as listings of planned park events for the special day. Use the hashtag #KidsToParks to share pictures of your outing.
In exchange for spreading the word about National Kids to Parks day I was provided with a very special book to give away! The Buddy Bison’s Yellowstone Adventure book along with some very special Outdoorsy Diva swag will be given to one very lucky family. To enter, simply tag Outdoorsy Diva in a picture from your Kids to Parks Adventure on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. Remember that any park will do! Be sure to tell us the name of the park in your post! You’ll have to make the privacy for the picture public so that I’ll be able to see your beautiful faces. If you don’t like to share your pictures publicly you can simply email them to me firstname.lastname@example.org and put Kids to Parks Day Giveaway in the subject line. The best, most creative photo will win! Deadline for all photo submissions is 5/22/2016 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern). *You must be a subscriber to the blog to be eligible to win. Good Luck!
